When a wildfire raged in Shasta and Trinity counties in Northern California, Raley’s customers pitched in with donations to the fire relief effort.
The fire, known as the Carr Fire, burned more than 220,000 acres in Northern California between July 23 and Sept. 4. Many Raley's customers and employees were affected by the fire, some of them losing homes.
“We understand the devastation that comes with wild fires and our team organized quickly to support our community with the resources needed most,” Becca Whitman, community relations manager of Raley’s and executive director of Raley’s Food For Families, said in a news release. “Without participation from customers across the company footprint, a donation of this magnitude would not have been possible.”
Raleys provided food and water to shelters and first responders during the fire.
Donations totaling $170,600 will be used for rebuilding efforts, through the Shasta Regional Community Foundation.
