This year not all of the Christmas cards decorated by children attending Redlands Christian Migrant Association centers across Florida are featuring a classic Christmas scene or Santa.
Jennifer Arriaga, a fourth-grader, decorated her card with a female farmer driving a truck hauling tomatoes and “Happy Holidays” written on the front, according to a news release.
The cards are being sold for $15 a package until Dec. 15, and for every sale, RCMA receives up to $240 in matching state “school-readiness” funding, the release said.
RCMA, Immokalee, Fla., hosts the Christmas card fundraiser annually, with the proceeds going to the organization’s child care, education and support efforts of migrant farmworkers’ kids.
