The Read to Me Project's second Salinas Valley Grows Readers literacy festival is set for April 30 in Salinas, Calif.

The Salinas Valley Grows Reader literacy festival was designed as a family experience centered on building literacy and creating a love for reading and learning, according to a news release.

The Read to Me Project is a prevention-based program designed to break the cycle of low literacy rates. The project's mission is to help children from 6 months to 5 years old to be ready for kindergarten, and prepare for a lifetime of literacy, according to the release.

The Salinas Valley Grows Readers festival is funded in part by First 5 Monterey County and Berkshire Hathaway Home Services Real Time Realty. The Read to Me Project is funded in part by California Giant Berries and Taylor Farms. More information is at
