Ready Pac Foods recently launched its Sweet & Spicy Korean Chopped Salad Kit in retailers including Albertsons, Raley’s and Giant Eagle.

The kit includes romaine lettuce, cabbages, other vegetables, brown rice, sesame seeds and a Gochujang vinaigrette, according to a news release.

Ready Pac describes Gochujang as a “savory, sweet and fermented red pepper paste” that trend watchers expect could grow in popularity the same way Sriracha did.

“With trends showing consumers are looking for more savory flavors with some extra heat, we decided to incorporate this delicious Korean flavor into our crisp, fresh, chopped salad kit to create a truly craveable experience,” Ivan Hayashi, senior manager responsible for salad kit innovation, said in the release.

The company noted that the flavor has already been gaining traction in the foodservice arena.

“Chefs at top fine dining restaurants have been experimenting with Gochujang on their menus and it was beginning to appear in retail products, so we looked at how to feature it in a new offering,” marketing vice president Priscila Stanton said in the release.

The suggested retail price for the kit is $3.99.
