Two listeria workshops are set for September in California.
The workshops are a joint effort by Western Growers, United Fresh Produce Association and the Produce Marketing Association, according to a news release.
Each workshop will include nearly almost two days of interactive education, with a reception after the first day’s sessions.
Beyond the workshops in California, Jennifer McEntire, vice president of food safety and technology for the United Fresh Produce Association, said additional listeria workshops are being planned for the Midwest later this year and in Atlanta next April.
“The industry hasn’t had any listeria issues lately, but it’s clear we need to we need to make sure that we don’t have any more listeria issues so we will keep doing those workshops,” she said.
