Renaissance Food Group (RFG), Rancho Cordova, Calif., has hired Nancy Johnston as vice president of produce procurement.
She has 30 years of experience in the industry. Before joining RFG, she was senior sales manager for Sysco Corp., launching and managing a Sysco/FreshPoint brand revitalization, according to a news release. Johnston had other roles at Sysco, and also worked for The Richard Kaiser Co., and TKO Farms Inc.
Her experience includes purchasing, new product development, sales management, marketing and brand development. At RFG, Johnston will lead all aspects of sourcing and regional procurement teams.
She’s been involved with the Produce Marketing Association’s Center for Growing Talent Women’s Fresh Perspective, and mentors students at the association’s Fresh Connections: Retail and Foodservice Expo events. Johnston participates in the Produce for Better Health Foundation and Southeast Produce Council.
“She is a well-respected industry professional and we look forward to her contributions in leadership, expertise and knowledge,” Raina Nelson, senior vice president of supply chain at RFG, said in the release.
Johnston, who joined the company June 3, succeeds Debbie Vest, who retires at the end of June.
