With the general and education sessions complete and about 70 Congressional, administrator and embassy meetings to go, Robert Guenther gave a recap of the first virtual United Fresh Washington Conference.

Guenther, senior vice president of public policy at United Fresh Produce Association, said the conference had 427 by the fourth day of the Sept. 21-25 event.

“That’s a great number for us, especially in a virtual environment,” Guenther said.

United Fresh had 38 states represented plus Canada, Mexico and other countries.

Also, the Zoom sessions for the virtual March on Capitol Hill will continue through Oct. 2.

In groups of 25 to 100, with question and answer opportunities, industry colleagues join each other for congressional meetings. United Fresh pairs constituents with congressional offices, as well as agency administrations and embassies, to address the latest COVID-19 policy topics while Congress is in session.

Produce professionals can still register to join those meetings of their choice, plus watch the general sessions and educational sessions on-demand.

“Our industry understands why it’s important to interact with congressional members and administrators,” he said.
