Among a few new hires is Kevin Leap, as category management of avocados. Additionally, Allan Acosta has been promoted to general manager of the tropical category, which consists of 27 product lines — including limes, pineapples, mangoes and avocados.
Leap comes most recently from GreenFruit Avocado, where he was director of sales and marketing, with previous experience at Frieda's Inc., West Pak Avocado Inc. and Dulcinea Farms.
Items are packed in Robinson Fresh’s premium licensed brands that include Tropicana and Green Giant Fresh, as well as its proprietary Happy Chameleon brand, Leap said.
Robinson Fresh also is expanding its grower base, Leap said.
“We are continuously adding growers to our avocado program in all countries of origin for avocados, with our core focus continuing to be in Mexico, Peru, Chile and California, as well as, most recently, Colombia,” he said.
Robinson Fresh also is marketing its avocados across “dozens of countries and four main continents,” including North and South America, Europe and Asia, Leap said.
