Weeks after donating to Hurricane Florence victims, Schnuck Markets Inc., St. Louis, and its customers donated $185,000 to support Hurricane Michael victims.

For 10 days, the retailer promoted “Round up at the Register,” which asked customers to round purchases up to the nearest dollar. The campaign ended Oct. 21. All donations go to the American Red Cross’ Hurricane Michael Disaster Relief Fund, according to a news release.

Customers raised more than $170,000 and a Schnuck Markets corporate donation raised the total to $185,000.

On Oct. 10, Hurricane Michael made landfall in the Florida Panhandle as a Category 4 storm, killing nearly 40 people in the U.S. and causing billions of dollars in damage to homes, businesses, and crops.

Earlier this month, the retailer and its customers gave $170,000 to the American Red Cross for Hurricane Florence relief efforts.
