Setton Farms and HMC Farms won kudos from a judge's panel of retail buyers at the California Food Expo.
The annual expo features a diverse selection of California-grown/made products, and at this year’s event, on Sept. 10 in Fresno, Setton Farm’s Garlic Onion seasoned pistachio kernels received first place in the Buyer’s Choice Award. HMC’s SpongeBob SquarePants and PAW Patrol grape packs.
Anna Abbatiello, marketing director at Setton Farms, said in a news release that the family-operated company is honored for the recognition. Onion garlic is one of five flavors in the company’s seasoned kernels line.
The judging panel included buyers from Whole Foods Markets, Walmart, Albertsons/Safeway, Bristol Farms and Erewhon Markets, according to the release.
More than 650 buyers perused the expo aisles, checking out products from 130 California companies.
“Our show offers buyers an opportunity to discover some of California’s most authentic and innovative brands that aren’t often found at other food industry trade shows,” Amy Fuentes, manager of the California Food Expo, said in the release. “Our Golden State expansion has enabled us to showcase California’s booming food industry, while strengthening relationships with a wider-range of buyers to help pave the way for future growth.”
