Acreage is up this year at Mission, Texas-based organic onion grower-shipper South Tex Organics LLC, said Dennis Holbrook, president.

“We kind of plan our acreage based on commitments from our customer base,” he said.

“We normally plant about 60 acres and got 35 in because of weather; this year, we’re back up and anticipate we’ll have a little greater demand, as we develop retailers that are looking for our Texas sweet onions.”
