SunFed has promoted Juan Carlos “JC” Barrionuevo to sales and hired Gil Renteria as general manager.

Barrionuevo has six years of experience at Rio Rico, Ariz.-based SunFed, most recently as facility director of the company’s Weslaco, Texas, location.

“He has proven to be a valuable and indispensable team member both here in Arizona as in Texas, and his experience has prepared him well for the challenges ahead,” Matt Mandel, vice president of operations, said in a release.

Renteria succeeds Barrionuevo at the SunFed Texas facility as general manager. Renteria has been operations manager/grower relations manager at Ciruli Bros., and has worked for The Produce Exchange, CMMV LLC, and Amex Distributing, according to the release.

“We are very fortunate to have Gil joining us, as he will bring a wealth of industry knowledge in both the Arizona and Texas markets,” Mandel said in the release.

Renteria will be working with Andres Escobar at the Weslaco facility to expand SunFed’s Texas Grown program, adding growers and commodities to the lineup, according to the release.
