Sunkist Growers launched a virtual talk show, “When Life Gives You Lemons,” in Canada, featuring recipes, at-home activities and mood-boosting tips using citrus.

Hosted by TV and online personality Deepa Prashad, the three-part series first aired in the Canadian market at 5 p.m. Eastern May 4, according to a news release.

The 15-minute Instagram Live episodes air again on May 6 and May 8. Prashad hosts, with guests Afrim Pristine, the owner of the Cheese Boutique in Toronto, YouTube personality Alexandra Gater and photographer Alexa Fernando.

The idea came about when a Citrus & Herb Pop-Up event, scheduled for the May 9-10 weekend in Toronto, needed to be moved online because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We developed the new virtual talk show to bring people together, sharing ways to freshen up pantry staples, offer ideas on how to use the whole fruit and expert tips on how to photograph citrus like a pro,” Christina Ward, director of global brand marketing, said in the release.

The talk show is designed to bring at-home inspiration to consumers, combining the trend of increased fruit sales and baking, which leading growth in grocery sales, according to Nielsen Canada.

Lemons, navel oranges and cara cara navel oranges are in season in California and are available through June.
