With an optimal in-season supply of California and Arizona citrus, Valencia, Calif.-based Sunkist Growers will bring a wide variety of fresh citrus to showcase at the April 2-4 2019 Canada Produce Marketing Association in Montreal.
Sunkist offers more than 40 varieties of fresh quality citrus, including oranges, grapefruit, mandarins, tangerines and tangelos, lemons, and limes, according to a news release.
“For generations, our cooperative of thousands of citrus growers across California and Arizona have shared the highest quality citrus with the world,” Christina Ward, Sunkist director of communications, said in the release. “Our fruit is eating great, and we’re excited to bring this experience and our excellent quality citrus to CPMA.”
Sunkist navel oranges, blood oranges, mandarins, cara cara navel oranges, lemons, minneola tangelos, tangerines and grapefruit will be on display and available for sampling at the Sunkist “We Are Citrus®” booth (No. 1315), according to the release.
Sunkist will also highlight its organic offerings with bins of Sunkist Organic lemons, the company said.
The California citrus crop is yielding an abundance of fruit this season, and company officials said retailers can take advantage of customizable promotion and merchandising programs.
“Our volumes are up across all citrus categories, and retailers have a great opportunity to promote their favorite varieties with a number of different marketing vehicles,” Sunkist director of retail marketing Julie DeWolf said in the release. “Oranges, mandarins, and minneola tangelos have larger crops with smaller fruit sizes, and as a result, it’s a great season to promote bagged citrus. We have the ability to cater to our customers’ unique needs, and we take this customizable approach to drive demand.”
Sunkist fresh citrus available now through May, according to the release, include navel oranges, cara cara navel oranges, minneola tangelos, California w. murcott and Gold Nugget mandarins, and Ojai Pixie tangerines.
Sunkist offers lemons, limes and grapefruit year-round. Sunkist also provides a range of organic citrus in promotable volumes, according to the release.
The release said CPMA attendees can visit the Sunkist booth for a live demonstration by Chef Jill Davie, who will be preparing and sampling several varieties. Sunkist also will host a Happy Hour at its booth on Wednesday, April 3, from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm featuring beverages garnished with Sunkist lemons and limes, according to the release.
