The award, in the food and beverage category, is part of the PAC Packaging Consortium’s annual recognition of innovative packaging, according to a news release.
“We know that packaging plays a large role in inspiring people to eat healthy, fresh food, and we take great care in designing our offerings to achieve that goal,” Paul Mastronardi, president and CEO of Mastronardi Produce, marketer of the Sunset brand, said in the release . “We are truly honored that our efforts have been recognized once again by a committee of brand design and packaging experts from around the globe.”
The awards were announced Feb. 18 at the Oneof100 Global Packaging Summit in New York City.
Sprinkles tomatoes were developed for the fast-growing snacking tomato category, and the package branding and design appeals to children, according to the release. The unique container also holds an ideal amount of tomatoes to top a salad, according to the company.
Sprinkles has also received a flavor award from the Taste and Quality Institute. The tomatoes are available at retail and foodservice segments.
