The contest is designed to boost mango sales while showcasing creativity of retail produce departments.
Entries are encouraged to cross merchandise Tajin spice with the displays, and highlight the board’s point-of-sale equipment, available at mango.org/POS. A Tajin merchandising kit is also available.
Displays must be kept up for at least a week between June 1-30, according to a news release, and entries are due by July 12. There are two categories: retailers with six or less registers, and retailers with seven and more registers.
First-place winners receive $500, second-place entries receive $250 and third-place entries receive $100, according to the release.
The Mango Mania Display Contest is a popular retail marketing program from the mango board, Valda Coryat, director of marketing for the board, said in the release.
“We always look forward to this time of year when we turn up the volume and the fun for produce shoppers,” Coryat said in the release. “Our partners are always thoughtful and creative as they build engaging displays during our peak mango volume months.”
