Todd Haffield has joined IMG Citrus, Vero Beach, Fla., as director of packinghouse operations, a role he had at the company from 2010-17.

Haffield first joined the company in 1999, with various positions in logistics and sales, according to a news release. He returned to the company in April.

While there, he oversaw the installation of a 13,000-square-foot cooler and Smart line and D-Pack lines that improved the company’s packing capabilities.

The company recently purchased a 4,000-acre grapefruit grove in St. Lucie County, Fla., and Haffield is implementing new labor strategies to manage the increase, as well as adding a sorter on the processing line, according to the release.

“The new sorter not only has the capability to grade out fruit with cosmetic or condition defects at high rates of speed, but also identifies and eliminates immature fruit, or fruit with less juice content, ensuring a product with consistent taste,” Veronique Sallin, IMG Citrus vice president, said in the release.

Haffield worked at his family’s citrus business growing up, and later handled outbound shipping and warehouse functions for Dole Food Co., as well as sales. IMG Citrus purchased the Dole packinghouse in 1999.
