The Tour de Fresh cycling fundraiser for school salads bars has chosen 12 districts to receive 45 salad bars from this year’s event.

This year’s Tour de Fresh is Oct. 12-16, and again presented by the California Giant Foundation.

About $1.3 million in extra produce sales is generated through stocking salad bars in schools across the U.S., according to a news release.

“We’re so excited and appreciative of the support we’ve garnered over the years,” Cindy Jewell, California Giant Berry Farms marketing vice president, said in the release. “The amount of dedication and training that our riders endure for this cause inspires all of us volunteers to work harder for Tour de Fresh.”

This year, the route will start in Carmel, Calif., and end in Anaheim at the convention center before the Produce Marketing Association’s 2019 Fresh Summit.

The event will benefit nine California school districts, and one each in Georgia, Ohio, Tennessee and Texas, according to the release.
