Tour de Fresh expanding to four days

California Giant is again a premier sponsor for the annual Tour de Fresh cycling event, which celebrates its fifth anniversary this year.

California Giant is already preparing for the July event, according to a news release, making some changes to the Tour de Fresh’s typical schedule.

This year’s event will be four days instead of three, according to the release. Over four years, the event has raised more than $600,000, which has purchased more than 180 salad bars for schools across the country.

Other changes include a finish-line festival, allowing sponsors to feature products in display tents after the four-day ride. The ride starts in Kirkwood, Calif., near Lake Tahoe, on July 22, and ends in Monterey, Calif., on July 26, the day before the Produce Marketing Association’s Foodservice Conference and Expo.

California Giant is donating a Tour de Fresh auction item to the United Fresh Produce Association’s “Bids for Kids Auction,” Jan. 16 in San Diego, during the United Fresh Start Foundation Gala. The auction item includes a front-row seat at the start of the Tour de Fresh, along with lodging and a swag bag, according to the release.

Other premier Tour de Fresh sponsors are Arctic Apple (Okanagan Specialty Fruits), Americold, Jazz Apples, Mission Produce, and Tanimura & Antle.

Tour de Fresh Sponsorships and spots for riders are still available. For more information, visit http://www.tourdefresh.com/.
