Tour touts Fresno Food ExpoSunWest Fruit Co. and pistachio grower Nichols Farms were among the stops on an agricultural and economic impact tour of California"s San Joaquin Valley that promoted the upcoming Fresno Food Expo, set for July 22-23.

More than 45 executives in agriculture, education and government – including Fresno mayor Ashley Swearengin – participated in the Jan. 13 tour of local food and beverage industry sites.

Among the speakers were Chuck Nichols, owner of Nichols Farms Denver Schutz, technical services manager at Gerawan Farming Doug Sankey, SunWest Fruit marketing manager Dean Thoneson, SunWest Fruit vice president and Bill Smittcamp, president and chief executive officer of Wawona Frozen Foods. They discussed economic development strategies.

Registration for the fifth annual Fresno Food Expo is open for buyers and exhibitors. More than 150 exhibitors and 750 international and domestic buyers are expected to participate. Registration forms and more information are available at www.FresnoFoodExpo.com.
