Transportation Insight moves up in annual ranking

Hickory, N.C.-based Transportation Insight has moved up two spots in the 2017 Grant Thornton North Carolina 100, published by Business North Carolina, to become the second-largest privately held company.

“Transportation Insight’s sustained growth is underpinned by our ability to provide top-tier solutions in all transportation modes and measurable results for our long-term client partners,” Chris Baltz, president and CEO, said in a news release.

Transportation Insight is one of three businesses bringing in the highest gross revenues of all the companies in the annual ranking, the release said, as well as the only transportation and logistics consultant within the top 40.

The company’s 2017 estimated gross revenue is $1.8 billion, according to the release.

“This is not only a humbling achievement for our company, but it is a tremendous validation of our talented associates who leave it on the field every day and work passionately to help our clients improve,” Paul Thompson, founder and chairman, said in the release. “By leveraging technology, analytics and decades of subject matter expertise, we have integrated platforms with multi-modal intelligence to provide North American companies with a forward-thinking lens that allow them to achieve growth and marketplace dominance.”

Transportation Insight was also added to the Inc. 500|5000 Hall of Fame this year, and was honored as a 2016 U.S. Environmental Protection Agency SmartWay Excellence Awardee.
