Bishop has a background in vegetable and citrus sales in the Rio Grande Valley, starting in the early 1990s. He most recently was a founding member and vice president of sales at Lone Star Citrus Growers, Mission, Texas, which opened in 2007. Before that, Bishop was sales manager at Healds Valley Farms in Edinburg.

“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to bring someone of Trent’s caliber and experience to help solidify J&D’s future plans for growth and success,” Jimmy Bassetti, president and CEO of J&D Produce, said in a news release.

Bishop has worked at I. Kunik Co. Inc., McAllen, Texas, and Golden Valley Distributors, in sales, but was promoted to president when the company was acquired by Foodsource LLC, working in the McAllen office. He also was in sales at Duda Texas, operating as Valley Onions Inc.

“Over the last few years, we have done a tremendous amount of work in preparing our organization for sustained growth and success,” James Bassetti, vice president of operations at J&D Produce, said in the release. “Trent is going to fill a critical role in those plans, refining processes and developing programs that fulfill our customers growing needs, now and into the future.”
