The United Fresh Produce Association has chosen the five industry members who will be recognized for their outstanding work in sharing their expertise.

The new awards, to be given at the United Fresh Convention & Expo June 10-12 in Chicago, recognize industry members in five categories represented by the group’s Expert Advisory Councils, according to a news release.

The inaugural recipients are:

Finance & Business Management: Jason Pounds, treasurer/secretary of Hardie’s Fresh Foods, Houston;
Food Safety & Technology: Natalie Dyenson, vice president of food safety and quality for Dole Food Groups, Westlake Village, Calif.;
Government Relations: Charles Wingard, director of field operations for Walter P. Rawl & Sons Inc., Pelion, S.C.;
Produce Marketng & Merchandising: Julie DeWolf, director of retail marketing, Sunkist Growers Inc., Valencia, Calif.; and
Supply Chain Logistics: Kenny Lund, vice president of support operations for ALC Logistics, La Canada Flintridge, Calif.

They will be honored at the main stage of the expo floor on June 12.

“Thousands of individuals work hard every day to ensure the success of their companies and the broader produce industry,” Tom Stenzel, president and CEO of United Fresh, said in the release.  “This program will allow us to shine a spotlight on five individuals who have made a strong impact in critical areas for our industry.”
