North Carolina sweet potato grower Stewart Precythe was posthumously honored by the U.S. Sweet Potato Council for his contributions to the industry.

Precythe, who was president and CEO of Faison, N.C.-based Southern Produce Distributors Inc., died last April. 

The award, given Jan. 26 during the closing festivities of the U.S. Sweet Potato Council’s annual event in Wilmington, N.C., recognizes someone who has demonstrated hard work, selfless dedication and distinguished service to the sweet potato industry, according to a news release.
