The U.S. Department of Agriculture has appointed three members to the Mushroom Council.
The new members, who started their three-year terms Jan. 1, are:
- Sonya Betran, Kennett Square, Pa., Region 2;
- Meghan Klotzbach, West Grove, Pa., Region 2; and
- Emily Bettencourt, Morgan Hill, Calif., Region 3.
They join six other members on the council, which consists of eight U.S. growers and an importer, according to a USDA release. Of the domestic growers, four represent Pennsylvania, two represent California, and two represent all other producing states.
Growers nominate members to the Mushroom Council, and the USDA, as in the case of all industry-funded research and promotion boards, appoints members to the group.
