After sanctioning the company for not paying an $18,000 reparation award in December, the U.S. Department of Agriculture has now filed a Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act administrative complaint against Unified Ltd., doing business as Pan American Banana.

The Los Angeles wholesaler allegedly failed to pay $557,297 to 14 produce sellers from September 2015 through March 2017, according to a news release.

Unified Ltd. can request a hearing, but if USDA finds the company to have committed repeated and flagrant violations of the PACA, Unified would be out of the industry for two years. Company principals Robin Del Toro and Jose Del Toro Jr. would be out for a year.
