The U.S. Department of Agriculture has filed administrative complaints under the Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act against two produce companies, one in Las Vegas and one in Boise, Idaho.

  • Paradise Produce LLC, a Las Vegas-based fresh-cut produce processor and distributor, allegedly failed to make payment to 32 produce sellers in the amount of $694,922 from February through November 2017, according to a news release.
  • Boise, Idaho-based Northwest Produce LLC, a wholesaler and, as of March 2015, a member of foodservice buying group Golbon, allegedly failed to make payment to 11 produce sellers in the amount of $85,054 from July 2015 through June 2017.

Each company can request a hearing with the USDA, but if the agency rules either one to have committed repeated and flagrant violations of the PACA, that company would be barred from the produce industry for two years and any responsibly connected individuals for a year.

Paradise Produce is permanently closed, according to Google
