The U.S. Department of Agriculture has announced it is planning to purchase up to $3.369 million in fresh lemons in January.

The USDA said the planned purchase is part of the trade mitigation program to help farmers hurt by retaliatory tariffs. The fruit will be delivered from April through June next year and distributed to various food nutrition assistance programs, according to a notice from the USDA.
