The U.S. Department of Agriculture has imposed sanctions on California and Virginia businesses under the Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act.

The businesses and principals involved, according to a USDA new release, are:

  • Jose Salazar Jr., doing business as Salazar Produce Co., Los Angeles, for not paying $23,478 to a California seller. Jose G. Salazar Jr. was listed as the sole owner.
  • Orion Pacific Traders Inc., Walnut Creek, Calif., for not paying $26,387 to a California seller. As of the date of the reparation order, Frederick D. Rider was listed as the officer, director and major stockholder of the business.
  • Lacewing Marketing LLC, Timberville, Va., for not paying $8,755 to a Florida seller. As of the issuance date of the reparation order, Kelly J. Wilkins was listed as a member of the business.

The businesses and connected officials are restricted from operating in the produce business, according to the release.
