The U.S. Department of Agriculture has sanctioned two produce businesses that failed to pay Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act reparation awards.

The following businesses and individuals are currently restricted from operating in the produce industry, according to a news release:

  • MVP Produce LLC, a Ruskin, Fla.-based tomato grower-shipper, for failing to pay a $38,810 award in favor of a Florida seller. Patricia Martinez and Miguel Martinez were listed as members of the business.
  • LDS Food Distributors Inc., Chicago, for failing to pay a $46,154 award in favor of a Texas seller. Amado Acosta and Cecilia Gonzalez were listed as the officers, directors and/or major stockholders of the business
