Vision Import Group, Hackensack, N.J., has hired Alberto Obregon as director of global procurement.

Obregon has more than 20 years of experience in the industry, and worked in Mexico’s agriculture department from 1997-2007, working in Mexico,

Chile, South Africa and the U.S., coordinating, developing and consulting on bilateral international agreements for fresh produce, according to a news release.

Since then, he has been with a citrus company in Mexico, directing the general operation, coordinating production, developing and operating packing plans and managing export and import programs, according to the release.

“His addition will galvanize our grower relationships while complementing our companies’ values and goals,” Ronnie Cohen, Vision Import Group principal, said in the release.

Obregon’s background in production, packing, post-harvest practices, food safety and export-import management were cited in the release.
“It is exciting to have this opportunity to work alongside old friends within the company and on the growers’ side,” Obregon said in the release.
