“We are excited to lead the progression of the ‘Ripe & Ready’ mango program in the U.S.,” Jesse Sepulveda, mango category manager for Vision Produce, said in a news release. “Our initial results show that the consumer has an extraordinary eating experience and this can be verified when our retailer reports that their sales have doubled.”
Sepulveda said in the release that there also is big opportunity for the program for the foodservice sector.
Vision Produce is delivering to multiple customers in the Phoenix area, according to the release, with one retailer reporting a 60% increase in sales with the program.
Similar to the banana and avocado categories, the release said mangoes are in prime position to be the next produce item can benefit from a ripe and ready program, and can give retailers a chance to win back consumers who have had poor experiences with mangoes in the past.
The mangoes are being ripened locally to guarantee freshness and the optimal eating experience, according to the release.
