Viva Fresh Produce Expo attendees can tour the San Antonio Wholesale Produce Market.

The facility opened for business in April 2016, offering warehousing for growers and distributors. The Viva Fresh tour includes a visit to at least one of the warehouses, and visitors can learn about plans for market expansion, according to a news release from the Texas International Produce Association, which presents Viva Fresh.

“We’re thrilled to have the Viva Fresh attendees tour our facility and view the opportunities that it can offer,” Fernando Narvaez, director of sales and marketing for the San Antonio market.  “The tour is specifically designed for anyone interested in working with wholesalers and distributors located here as well as anyone looking for a location for a branch or distribution/warehouse, or processing center in San Antonio.”

The market’s next phase includes build-to-suit leases, which can include refrigerated, freezer, dry and office spaces, according to the release.

“In the past ten years, imports from Mexico through Texas have increased by over 122,” Dante Galeazzi, president of the Texas International Produce Association, said in the release. “As this trend continues, it’s exciting to see new developments such as the San Antonio Wholesale Produce Market that offers vital infrastructure to support this region’s growth.”

Buses will leave from the JW Marriott, where Viva Fresh is located this year, on April 25. Viva Fresh attendees can reserve a spot on one of the two tours of the market online.

Tour reservations are being accepted online.
