Runners at the Fit Foodie Festival and 5K were treated to hydrating slices of watermelon from event sponsor National Watermelon Promotion Board.
The watermelon group handed out more than 5,000 servings at the July 28 run and festival, showcasing the fruit’s nutritional value, according to a news release. During the festival, chef Dina Paz demonstrated a recipe on the Culinary Stage.
“The Fit Foodie Run was an excellent venue to reach fitness-focused consumers and their families,” Stephanie Barlow, senior director of communications for the watermelon board, said in the release. “With the variety of watermelon applications offered, including juice, wedge pops and salads, attendees appreciated having a nutritious whole food to refuel and take on the go.”
