He leads the Fresno research team.

Michael Schutt’s passion for produce has been evident since beginning his career with Raley’s in 1986. He has worked as a produce clerk, produce manager and in produce quality control, and currently is a produce buyer. With a special interest in organics, Schutt pioneered Raley’s program in the 1990s.

Mark Koppang is Raley’s director of sustainability. In this role, Koppang focuses on exploring and expanding Raley’s commitment to sustainability with actions that are most meaningful to its team members, customers and communities. Koppang works daily with individuals across the organization who contribute to Raley’s climate and sustainability driven efforts by helping to define, execute and measure opportunities for further impact.
