Western Growers is offering a web seminar on Food Safety Modernization Act compliance.

Called “Are you FSMA compliant?” the event is slated for Feb. 26 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Pacific Feb. 26, according to a news release.

Speakers are Kurt Nolte of the Food and Drug Administration’s Produce Safety Network and Susan Leaman, vice president of iDecisionSciences LLC.

Registration is available online.

According to the release, participants will hear about FSMA compliance dates for produce operations, as well as enforcement activities and upcoming training.

Since Jan. 26, produce farms designated as “large” (those with annual sales greater than $500,000) are expected to be in compliance with most of the provisions in the Produce Safety Rule, according to the release. Smaller farms will be phased in over the next few years.

The release said Nolte will provide an overview of current Produce Safety Network efforts to provide regulatory support and technical assistance to implement the Produce Safety Rule.
