IMG Citrus, Vero Beach, Fla., is celebrating 40 years in business, starting as a 72-acre farm that’s transformed to a vertically integrated grower, packer and shipper that recently added 4,000 acres of Florida grapefruit.
The company’s founders, IMG President Michel Sallin, and his wife Veronique Sallin (IMG vice president who plans to retire at the end of the season) , and other IMG personnel, are featured In a video celebrating the company’s history.
The company is exhibiting at the Produce Marketing Association’s Fresh Summit expo Oct. 18-19 in Anaheim Calif., at booth No. 4037.
The company focused solely on export markets until the start of the century, and now sells citrus under the Happy Food label, which can be found in stores in the U.S., Canada, Asia and Europe, according to a news release.
“We are the marketing, the grove production and the packinghouse,” Michel Sallin said in the release. “We started as a marketer, and then we went toward production."
Sydney Allison, director of sales, said a common phrase at the company is “If it's not broken, break it and make it better.”
“We are always willing to pick up, keep going, and keep looking for the next project, the next change, and the next innovation," Allison said in the release.
