Zespri has hired Raul Murguia to a newly created position for the New Zealand kiwifruit marketer, head of marketing-Americas.
Zespri is developing supply options to become a 12-month brand, along with ramping up volumes of the SunGold variety.
With the new position, Murguia will oversee Zespri marketing activities for North, Central and South America, according to a news release.
He has had marketing roles in a number of industries over 17 years, most recently as marketing director for innovations at Pharmavite Corp. He began his career with the Coca-Cola Co. in Mexico, according to the release, and also worked for Procter and Gamble, Sara Lee and Pepsico.
“I’m looking forward to applying my extensive CPG background to help grow the Zepri brand,” Murguia said in the release. “It’s an exciting time at Zespri with plans to target 50% growth for the coming year.”
Zespri’s market development managers are meeting with retailers for category programs and promotions, according to the release.
