GOLD COAST: Chris Olsen (from left), Natali Carrillo-Meraz and Terry Kuhel of Santa Maria, Calif.-based Gold Coast Packing display the latest flavors of the company’s new Caulifornia Riced Vegetables. They’re washed, diced and ready-to-use, and are available in three flavors: Garlic Herb, Ginger Garlic and Spanish Rice. Each includes a sauce, and is ready in less than four minutes.

GREENFRUIT: Newport Beach, Calif.-based GreenFruit Avocados has a new packaging concept for avocados, says Dan Acevedo, director of business development. The boxes hold two avocados, with windows to indicate ripeness, and protect the fruit from handling injury. They’re perfect for a smaller foodservice operation, and are also labeled with a Universal Product Code for retail applications.

PEATOS: Marcus Seiden, left, and Mason Lopez of Los Angeles-based Snack it Forward offered the company’s newest flavors of Peatos, a healthier alternative for snacks by replacing corn with nutrient-dense alternatives like peas. Launched in February, they’re available in Classic Cheese, Fiery Hot, Chili Cheese and Masala.

HANDY CANDY: Birmingham, Ala.-based Handy Candy LLC is getting even snackier. The company now offers its sweet grape tomatoes in a 2-ounce clamshell that’s perfect for school foodservice operations. Mike Prather, director of sales, says the company already has a lot of interest from schools, and the product is appealing for retailers as well.
