 Mastronardi Produce expands network

Mastronardi Produce Ltd., Kingsville, Ontario, continues to expand its network of greenhouses in the U.S. and Canada, said Julia Shreve, director of marketing for brand and innovation.

“We are very excited to be unveiling our newest greenhouse, Green Empire Farms, in Oneida, N.Y.,” she said.

“We currently have 32 acres of premium WOW brand strawberries producing and shipping, and by March we’ll have an additional 32 acres of premium tomatoes planted,” Shreve said.

The company also will have new two pepper items — Kaboom! black jalape ñ o peppers and Wild Wonders super sweet peppers.

Mastronardi Produce, which markets the Sunset brand, also will be testing a number of sustainable packaging items that will include fully recyclable, plastic-free packaging, as well as backyard compostable packaging, on some of its top-selling snacking items, Shreve said.
