USDA ranks top fresh export states
California is easily the top-ranked state for both fresh fruit and fresh vegetable exports, according to a new report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
The USDA report said the top ten states for fresh fruit exports in 2017 were:
- California, $2.908 billion;
- Washington, $760.9 million;
- Florida, $331.1 million;
- Oregon, $137.6 million;
- Michigan, $94.4 million;
- New York, $89.8 million;
- Arizona, $71.1 million;
- Texas, $43.3 million;
- Wisconsin, $38 million; and
- New Jersey, $37.4 million.
For fresh vegetables, the top ten states for exports in 2017 were:
- California, $1.07 billion;
- Arizona, $204.4 million;
- Washington, $183.5 million’
- Idaho, $157.7;
- Florida, $141 millioin;
- North Dakota, $86.2 million;
- North Carolina, $78.3 million;
- Michigan, $76.9 million;
- Wisconsin, $62.4 million; and
- Oregon, $50.2 million.
