Fyffes buys second Canadian mushroom shipper

Melon and tropical fruit specialist Fyffes PLC has bought another Canadian mushroom shipper.

Ireland-based Fyffes' acquisition of All Seasons Mushroom Inc. comes five months after its purchase of Highline Produce Ltd., according to a news release.

Fyffes paid $46 million for British Columbia-based All Seasons, which ships from four facilities. All Seasons' geographic reach is a natural complement to Highline, which ships from Ontario and Quebec, Fyffes' chairman, David McCann, said in the release.

"We are very pleased to have acquired All Seasons," he said. "Together, Highline and All Seasons will be well placed to provide Canadian customers with a consistent supply of the highest quality mushrooms from coast to coast, while continuing to strategically supply U.S. customers with premium and organic mushrooms."

Frank Moscone, All Seasons' CEO, will remain at the company.

"We are delighted to be joining the Fyffes Group and excited about the potential in working with Highline to provide nationwide coverage to our combined customer base," Moscone said in the release.
