Lake Forest, Ill.-based Packaging Corporation of America has acquired Hanover, Penn.-based TimBar Packaging & Display, a designer and manufacturer of corrugated products.

"The highly skilled employees, culture and customer base of TimBar complements PCA extremely well and allows us to apply our operating and sales expertise across a larger system providing significant growth potential," Tom Hassfurther, executive vice president of PCA, said in a news release. "This enables us to optimize our focus on customized solutions for our customers."

With the purchase, PCA gains five corrugated plants, two fulfillment centers and four design centers, most of which are in the eastern or southeast U.S., according to the release.

"Culturally, I feel the two companies are a good fit with both being driven by customer needs and putting high value on employees," Matt Heleva, president and CEO of TimBar, said in the release. "As a result of this transaction, TimBar's client base will have access to a broader scope of products and geographic service area supported by a strong mill system. It will also provide more advancement opportunities for TimBar employees."
