Choptank hires IT director

Choptank Transport, based in Preston, Md., hired Kimberly Pippin as the director of information technology, a new position.

Pippin more recently worked with Johns Hopkins University Central IT, a joint position with both the University and the hospital, according to a news release.

Originally from Baltimore, Pippin earned her MBA from Loyola College and has 20 years of IT experience.

Marcia Wood, vice president of finance and head of the IT department for Choptank, emphasized the technological aspect of transportation and logistics as a key influence of Pippin's appointment.

"Building a premier IT team is an important part of the equation. Having the right person to take on this key leadership role is exciting. We are thrilled to

have Kim on board," she said in the release.

Pippin said that major components of the new position, such are reading are networking, are hobbies of hers.

"Keeping up with the latest news and changes in the IT world requires a lot of reading and networking. There is a lot going on here and I am ready to get started," Pippin said in the release.
