SunFed shipping higher volumes of tomatoes this year
Rio Rico, Ariz.-based SunFed is now shipping its Roma, grape and beefsteak tomatoes and expects to ship higher volumes of each variety this year than it has in previous years.
Lower yields at the beginning of the season due to cooler temperatures have improved with better weather, according to a news release.
The grape and beefsteak tomatoes are sold under the company's Perfect Produce label, which also includes bell peppers, cucumbers, eggplant, limes, specialty melons and squash. The Roma tomatoes will be marketed under the Perfect Romas label.
"We are constantly working to improve and elevate our year-round program across the U.S. and Canada," Eduardo Herbst, tomato sales manager, said in the release. "With our recent expansion in McAllen, Texas, and longtime headquarters in Nogales, Ariz., we are able to reach our East Coast and West Coast partners with ease, less travel time, and a high-quality product with maximum radiant freshness."
