Florida trucking firm adds perishables LTL service
Vero Logistics, a south Florida carrier, has started an LTL (less than load) service for perishables.
The Margate, Fla.-based trucking and logistics operation recently started the program to handle fresh produce and other perishable cargo originating in Florida and Georgia and shipping to destinations throughout the U.S., according to a news release.
Vero Logistics operates a fleet of 50 trucks and trailers that are equipped with GPS service on each tractor and trailer for tracking of loads.
The company also monitors temperatures in each trailer to assure cold chain integrity, according to the release.
Since 2008, Vero Logistics has specialized in the transport of refrigerated goods, including produce and floral, and its drivers remain knowledgeable on the unique challenges of the segment, according to the release.
"We realized there was a demand from our customers to provide comprehensive LTL service out of Florida and Georgia to the rest of the country, and we created this program to meet the demand," Avi Epstein, a company pricing analyst, said in the release.
The carrier's customer service department communicates updates and load details to Vero's customers and checks
appointment times, order numbers and piece counts to help avert issues involving shippers or consignees, according to the release.
Vero Logistics distributes throughout the continental U.S.
