Pineapple organization’s conference covers global issues
The International Pineapple Organization's first-quarter Global Pineapple Conference has a busy schedule, with a day-long series of conference sessions and a tour of Port Everglades.
The conference will tackle five main areas, according to the group’s website:
- Supply side: crop estimates and projections, with academic and farm sectors participating;
- Demand side: global pineapple market performance, with importers, retailers, and fresh and processed pineapple marketers participating;
- Transportation and logistics: representatives from Port Everglades, shipping lines, customs brokers and freight forwarders talk about the supply chain;
- Technology and food safety: third-party service providers on food safety, and certification organizations give an update on standards; and
- Sustainability and social responsibility: leaders on sustainable projects present information on being responsible stewards while maintaining competitiveness and efficiency.
