These companies made Thrive's Top 50 AgTech and AgFood lists
Several produce-related companies on the cutting edge of technology and sustainability made Thrives’s Top 50 listings of AgTech and FoodTech, announced by SVG Ventures at the Agricultural Outlook Forum in Arlington, Va.
The 96th annual U.S. Department of Agriculture event was Feb. 21-22 and included Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue in the announcement.
Companies that made the list include:
- AeroFarms, Newark, N.J.;
- Apeel Sciences, Goleta, Calif.;
- Bowery Farming, New York, N.Y.;
- Bright Farms, Irvington, N.Y.;
- Gotham Greens, Brooklyn N.Y.; and
- Imperfect Foods, San Francisco.
AeroFarms made the growth-stage AgTech list for the third year in a row, chief marketing officer and cofounder Marc Oshima said in a news release.
“AeroFarms continues our mission to grow the best plants possible for the betterment of humanity through continual innovation,” Oshima said.
A “fireside chat” with Perdue and John Hartnett, CEO and founder SVG Ventures, was called “The Innovation Imperative: Shaping the Future of Agriculture.” New this year was a listing of Top 50 FoodTech companies.
The annual ranking showcases the leading global AgTech and FoodTech companies exemplifying the best in agriculture and food-focused innovation.
To qualify for a spot on THRIVE’s Top 50 listing, a company must have a product in market, have received a minimum of series A funding and be ready to scale.
The 2020 THRIVE Top 50 listings will be published by Forbes in the coming weeks, and the THRIVE Innovation Summit at Santa Clara University on March 25 will feature pitches from a select group of top 50 companies.
