PMA postpones Fresh Connections Retail, Women’s Fresh Perspectives

The Produce Marketing Association has postponed its Fresh Connections Retail and Women’s Fresh Perspectives events due to the new coronavirus, COVID-19.

Fresh Connections Retail had been scheduled for March 25-26 in Philadelphia, and the Women’s Fresh Perspectives Conference was set for April 26-28 in San Antonio.

Joe Watson, vice president of member engagement for the eastern U.S., announced in an e-mail to members March 12 that the organization has postponed all PMA and Center for Growing Talent events through May 1. Watson said PMA expects phone call volume to the organization to be high in the wake of the news ,but that members can e-mail memberservices@pma.com or call 302-738-7100.

One day earlier, the Texas International Produce Association announced it would postpone or cancel its annual Viva Fresh Expo, originally scheduled for April 29-May 2 in San Antonio.

Baldor has postponed its BITE 2020 expo, and the Eastern Produce Council canceled its annual volunteer event over concerns about the coronavirus.

South by Southwest, the mammoth festival of music, art, food and culture that takes place in Austin, an event at which PMA presents, has also been canceled.
