First winners of Healthy Living Challenge announced

Dole's Get Up and Grow Together initiative began the second round of its 2016 Healthy Living Challenge by announcing the first round winners.

Julie Lincoln of Cincinnati won the grand prize and Jayne Macedo of Kearny, N.J. won first place, according to a news release.

Lincoln earned the most points in the team competition of the first round, so she and up to 40 of her friends will be attending a party hosted by Amy Tobin and Mark Allison. Tobin hosts "Amy's Table: A Guide to Living," and Allison is Dole's director of culinary nutrition.

Macedo won the individual sweepstakes and will receive her own customized culinary prize from Allison.

The second round of the Healthy Living Challenge will last until September 29th. Between now and then, participants will create their own teams and compete to win similar prizes.

"Everyone needs a little extra motivation when eating better, getting in shape, starting a new fitness routine or other milestone," said Carrie Ann Arias, Dole's vice president of marketing, in the release.

"Our hope is that the response we saw in Round 1 will grow to included even more Americans in Round 2 that are inspired to rally their friends, family and co-workers for support and accountability."

Dole Fresh Fruit, Dole Fresh Vegetables and Dole Nutrition Institute worked together to organize the Get Up and Grow Together program, which is designed to help consumers live healthier lifestyles rich in fresh fruits and vegetables.
